While Kimberly Whitfield’s passion for making a noticeable impact in the world began long before, she launched her renewable energy career in 2015 when she partnered up with the founders of Powur, PBC. Powur is a Public Benefit Corporation with a proprietary technology platform that is shifting an entire industry. Similar to the way Uber transformed the entire transportation industry with a technology platform, Powur is enhancing the solar industry. The Powur platform connects the best in class local solar installers with homeowners looking to get an educational experience around solar. Not at all your typical sales experience with a solar company directly. A concierge-approach, with no additional cost, to the best quality solar installation at the best prices. As a part of the leadership team, she helped Powur grow to over 5,000 licensees to the platform by year two. She has since become an integral member of an innovative team on a mission to shift the entire energy industry and help 2 million homeowners switch to solar by 2025! Kimberly now has ownership in the company, having invested in the second round of funding in early 2017.

Her involvement in Powur and the game-changing Uber-like technology platform led her to launch Smart Energy Marin in the San Francisco Bay area where she resides. Simultaneously, she co-founded Solar Brokers LLC nationally alongside her mother, a long-time East Coast new construction and renovation expert, also in 2017. Now a renewable energy expert nationally, she utilizes the Powur platform to provide a value-driven consultative approach to help her local community, many in the San Diego and greater southern California area (where she spends a lot of time,) and the rest of the country – produce clean energy of their own, while keeping more money in their pocket. Her expertise in many solar markets has helped her to take the best approach to educating homeowners on what it really looks like to turn that liability of a utility bill – into an asset. Putting more money directly into the pockets of her homeowner clients day-one, while increasing the value of their home at the same time! Talk about freedom!
